The Year of the Tigher 2022

2022 is the year of Tiger (Water-水虎 shuǐ hǔ) according to Chinese zodiac, starting from February 1st, 2022 and lasting to January 21st, 2023. 狐假虎威 (hújiǎhǔwēi)

A fox assumes the might of a tiger; putting on airs
狐假虎威 is a story about “The Fox Assuming the Majesty of the Tiger”. It is used to refer to those who bully or frighten others by relying on other people’s power.



虎头蛇尾 (hǔtóu-shéwěi)
Head of a tiger and tail of a snake  lit. tiger’s head, snake’s tail (idiom); fig. a strong start but weak finish
While dragons are a good match for tigers in terms of strength, snakes are a less apt pairing. This idiom describes an action or initiative that starts with a bang, but goes out with a whimper.
