Current HSKK still matters. Many regular HSK 1–6 registration pages in 2026 may still label the speaking test as HSKK / HSK Speaking.

HSKK is the official spoken Chinese proficiency test. In most test centers, you record your spoken answers with a microphone. Examiners focus on pronunciation, clarity, coherence, task completion, and whether you can complete the speaking tasks under time pressure.

Current HSKK vs New HSK 3.0 Speaking

Under the New HSK 3.0 system, speaking becomes more directly matched with written exam levels: HSK 3 Speaking, HSK 4 Speaking, HSK 5 Speaking, and HSK 6 Speaking. This makes level selection clearer, especially for learners preparing for HSK 4 and above.
