Chinese Summer Camp Packing List & Parent's Preparation Guide (Beijing 2026)
Sending your child to a Chinese summer camp in Beijing is one of the most rewarding decisions you can make — and one of the most nerve-wracking to prepare for. What should they pack for Beijing's 37°C summers? Does your child need a visa? What happens if they have a peanut allergy and can't read a Chinese menu?
Since 2008, Mandarin Zone has helped over 5,000 families from 40+ countries prepare for this exact journey. This guide combines an interactive packing checklist, visa-free eligibility guide, food allergy cards in Chinese, a pocket money calculator, essential survival phrases, and more — everything parents need on one page.
1. Do You Need a Visa? China Entry Guide for Summer Camp 2026
If you're from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, or most of Europe, your child does NOT need a visa to attend summer camp in China in 2026. China has dramatically expanded its visa-free entry policies. For a 2-to-4-week summer camp, the 30-day visa-free policy is the simplest and most common entry route.
30-Day Visa-Free Entry (48 Countries)
Citizens of the following 48 countries can enter China without a visa for stays up to 30 days, covering tourism, family visits, business, and cultural exchange. Chinese summer camp falls under cultural exchange.
Europe (36 countries): Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom (from Feb 17, 2026), Russia (until Sep 14, 2026), Ukraine.

Americas (4 countries): United States, Canada (from Feb 17, 2026), Brazil, Argentina.
What you need at the airport: a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), a return or onward flight ticket, and accommodation confirmation. No application needed — just arrive and go through immigration. The 30-day countdown starts from 00:00 on the day after entry.
240-Hour Transit Visa-Free (55 Countries)
If your country is not on the 30-day list, you may qualify for the 240-hour (10-day) transit visa-free policy covering 55 countries. Requirements: you must be transiting through China to a third country or region (Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan count). You need a confirmed onward ticket. Beijing Capital Airport and Beijing Daxing Airport are both eligible entry ports.
L Visa (Tourist Visa) for Other Countries
If your country is not eligible for either visa-free policy, apply for an L visa (tourist visa) at your nearest Chinese embassy or consulate. Mandarin Zone provides official invitation letters and supporting documentation. Start the process at least 6-8 weeks before camp.
